Palestinians call for large-scale participation in Friday protests

KHAN YUNIS, GAZA - MARCH 30: Demonstrators shout slogans and hold Palestinian flags during the demonstration under the name of the "Great Return March" at Israeli border in eastern part of Khan Yunis, Gaza on March 30, 2018. Dubbed the Great Return March, Fridays rallies in the Gaza Strip also coincide with Land Day, which commemorates the murder of six Palestinians by Israeli forces in 1976. Palestinian national factions in Ramallah and al-Bireh urged the Palestinian masses to take part in the large-scale protests slated to be held on Friday near all flashpoints with the Israeli occupation forces.

In a Sunday statement, the factions called on the Palestinians to combine forces and escalate protests in response to Israel’s fait accompli policy.

The statement urged all the parties to the Geneva Convention and the international community to work on providing the Palestinians with the needed protection and defending them against Israel’s simmering terrorism.

It further called for forming fact-finding committees to investigate and expose the Israeli crimes against civilians, particularly in the besieged Gaza Strip.

The factions also drew attention to the need to form vigilance committees so as to thwart the increasing violations committed by the Israeli settlers and terror gangs.

The statement urged a mass-participation in the weekly sit-in set to be staged outside the Red Cross office at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday in solidarity with Palestinian prisoners, hunger strikers, and administrative detainees held in Israeli jails.
