New Lies from War Machine Obama War on ISIL is different to previous wars

American President Barack Obama said yesterday that his country’s war on IS is different to previous wars as he would not send American forces to foreign lands.

“So tonight, with a new Iraqi government in place, and following consultations with allies abroad and Congress at home, I can announce that America will lead a broad coalition to roll back this terrorist threat,” Obama said.

“Our objective is clear: we will degrade, and ultimately destroy, [IS] through a comprehensive and sustained counterterrorism strategy.”

“I will not hesitate to take action against [IS] in Syria, as well as Iraq,” Obama said, acknowledging there will be risks to American service members. “This is a core principle of my presidency: If you threaten America, you will find no safe haven.”

Referring to long-standing targeted drone attacks against Al-Qaeda in the Yemen, Somalia and Pakistan, Obama said: “This strategy of taking out terrorists who threaten us, while supporting partners on the front lines, is one that we have successfully pursued.”

A regional meeting for the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey and the United States is being held in Saudi Arabia to discuss the issue of terrorism and the extremist organisations in the region.

The meeting coincides with a US Secretary of State John Kerry’s tour of the Middle East where he’ll visit Iraq, Jordan and Saudi Arabia. The tour is part of an effort to form an international ally of more than 40 countries to fight ISIL.
