Mikdad: Syria supports Palestine’s efforts to have SC issue resolution on ending Israeli occupation

Mikdad

Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Fayssal Mikdad asserted Syria’s support for the Palestinian people’s struggle against Israel’s attempts to judaize Jerusalem and liquidate the Palestinian cause.
Meeting a delegation from the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) on Tuesday, Mikdad said that Syria supports the Palestinians’ efforts to have the Security Council issue a binding resolution on ending the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories and on guaranteeing the Palestinians’ right to return, self-determination, and establishing an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
He said that how the international community will handle this issue will once again reveal which countries support the Israeli occupation and want to liquidate the Palestinian cause.
Mikdad also affirmed that Syria condemns Israel’s attempts to judaize Jerusalem, blot out its Arab and Islamic identities, and build more settlements on Palestinian land, holding Israel responsible for the massacres committed in occupied lands under the support of western circles, condemning the silence of certain Arab rulers over these issues, rulers who conspire against both Palestine and Syria.
The Deputy Minister stressed the need to continue providing humanitarian aid and relief to Palestinian camps in Syria and deal with the terrorist who hinder the delivery of aid.
He also briefed the delegation on the results of the recent visit by UN envoy on Syria Staffan de Mistura, saying that the success of de Mistura’s mission depends on ending the funding, arming, and harboring of terrorists by Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and other countries, as per Security Council resolutions 2170 and 2178.
For his part, PLO Executive Committee member Ahmad Majdalani, who headed the delegation, reviewed the situation in Palestine and the recent Israeli escalation against the people of Jerusalem and against al-Aqsa Mosque.
Majdalani asserted that the Palestinian leadership will request that the Security Council and international organizations act to stop this escalation, asserting that both the Syrian and Palestinian leaderships are committed to working to alleviate the suffering of the people of Yarmouk Camp and remove terrorists from it.
