Map Update: Syrian Army, allies overrun ISIS in Deir Ezzor

The Syrian Army, backed by allied forces, managed to liberate large swathes of land in the Syrian desert following fierce clashes with the Islamic State.

This comes as part of a wider offensive aimed at eradicating the terror group from a large pocket expanding from southern Deir Ezzor to eastern Homs.

The recently-recaptured territories, which cover an area of 1500 km2, include a key bastion for the terror organization, namely Faydat Ibn Mowyna` as well as a lot of hilltops, valleys and wells.

ISIS has recently waged daring onslaughts  against Army positions, thus threatening the government supply routes reaching to the eastern city of Deir Ezzor from the Desert.
