The Lebanese Army captured one of the top officials of Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group) on Sunday after raiding the aforementioned terrorist group’s positions near the Syrian border-crossing at the ‘Arsal Barrens.
According to a Lebanese Army communique, Dr. J. Sharafeddeen was captured by the Lebanese Army after a failed attempt to flee during the latter’s raid on Sunday morning.
Sharafeddeen is the private doctor of Jabhat Al-Nusra’s top emir in the Qalamoun Mountains: “Abu Malek Al-Talleh.”
The captured Nusra official is a Syrian national that reportedly defected from the Free Syrian Army (FSA) in late 2012, joining the ranks of this notorious terrorist group thereafter.
Sharafeddeen’s capture by the Lebanese Army will be a powerful bargaining tool for the latter as they seek to secure the release of their soldiers from Nusra’s captivity.
