Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Sayyed Imam Ali Khamenei has penned a letter condoling with the survivors of the recent terror attacks, saying such crimes cannot work to harm the Iranian nation’s determination.

At least 17 people were killed and more than 50 injured in Tehran on Wednesday, when gunmen attacked Iran’s Parliament and the Mausoleum of the late founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini.

The terrorist incident, Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Sayyed Imam Ali Khamenei said, was a “clear indication of the animosity and malicious hostility of the agents of the arrogance with the noble Iranian nation and everything related to the revolution, the Islamic system and its exalted late leader (Imam Khomeini).”

The Takfiri group of Daesh claimed responsibility for the attack in which the assailants, carrying automatic weapons, forced their way into a hall where lawmakers met with ordinary people and strafed them with bullets.

“The definite result of these attacks is nothing other than increasing hatred toward American governments and their agents in the region, such as Saudi Arabia,” Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Sayyed Imam Ali Khamenei said.

The terrorist attack drew international condemnation but US President Donald Trump and the White House said Iran deserved it, prompting Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif to denounce the comments “repugnant”.

In his message, Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Sayyed Imam Ali Khamenei said, “Such crimes which indicate viciousness and at the same time humiliation of their perpetrators and instigators are too small to make a dent in the will of the Iranian nation.”

“The Iranian nation, united and determined, will march ahead, God willing,” the Leader added.

In similar comments following the Tehran attacks, the Leader said Wednesday that such assaults will fail to undermine the Iranian nation’s resolve in the face of threats.

Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Sayyed Imam Ali Khamenei said had Iran not stood against the hotspot of terrorism in the region, the country would have faced more severe problems.
