Kurdish fighters battling the ISIL terrorists in Syria’s northern town of Kobani have managed to kill a senior commander of the Takfiri group.

On Friday, the Kurdish forces engaged in fierce battle with ISIL in Kobani, also known as Ain al-Arab in Arabic.

Osman al-Nazeh of Saudi origin was killed along with a number of ISIL militants in the fight.

Nazeh had a doctorate degree in jurisprudence and used to work as a professor at King Khalid University in Saudi Arabia before joining ISIL ranks in Syria.

He gained notoriety after appearing in an online ISIL video, where a number of militants are tearing their passports.

Nazeh’s sermons used to be published regularly on the Internet after the United States and its allies began airstrikes on ISIL positions inside Iraq and Syria.

Kurdish fighters are reportedly in control of nearly 70 percent of Kobani as ISIL has lost ground in the strategic territory.

Kobani and its surroundings have been under attack since mid-September, with ISIL capturing dozens of nearby Kurdish villages and killing hundreds of people.

More than 200,000 people have reportedly been forced from homes crossing the border into Turkey.

Reports say over 1,000 people have been killed in the battle for Kobani, most of them terrorists.

ISIL controls some parts of Iraq and Syria. The terrorists are engaged in crimes against humanity in the areas under their control. They have terrorized and killed people of all communities, including Shias, Sunnis, Kurds, and Christians.
