Jund Al-Aqsa (Syrian Al-Qaeda franchise), alongside Faylaq Al-Sham and the Free Syrian Army (FSA), launched a powerful assault today at the key town of Souran in northern Hama.

The jihadist assault at Souran experienced rapid success during the few hours; however, the attack quickly turned sour after Jund Al-Aqsa and their allies failed to capture the town-center from the Syrian Arab Army (SAA).

With no cover from the Syrian Arab Army’s continuous shelling, Jund Al-Aqsa and their allies withdrew to the outskirts of Souran, where they were confronted by the government forces at the northwestern perimeter of the town.

Clashes are still ongoing between the two parties outside Souran, as Jund Al-Aqsa makes another attempt to capture the town from the Syrian Arab Army’s 11th Tank Division.
