Nowadays, the people of Iraq and Syria share one common danger and one common safety: In the words of the Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei, “The danger is terrorism and the safety is unity.”
At a time when the United Nations Security Council warns that unprecedented numbers of foreigners are flocking to Iraq and Syria to join terrorist groups like ISIL and al-Qaeda, there is no more sure tie between the two nations than when they are united in their goals to hit the exported terrorists where it hurts the hardest.

More so, at a time when the UN Security Council reports that 15,000 terrorists from more than 80 countries have flocked to the region to join ISIL and other terrorist groups, the peoples and the governments of Iraq and Syria have no choice but to dwell together in unity. This is because despite the strategic gains in recent weeks by their ground forces, the foreign-backed terrorists are not offering an olive branch:

Thanks largely to the American-Saudi-Qatari arms and petro-dollar cash, the terrorist group of ISIL controls large swathes of territory. It is also because of such support that they are committing heinous crimes in the captured areas.

America’s gatekeepers, Turkey and Jordan, are not in a hurry to close their “Jihadist Highways” either. Quite the opposite, and according to the latest Security Council report, they continue to let foreign militants slip across their borders, where they are swarming into the twin conflicts on an unprecedented scale.

Likewise, Britain, France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and other EU members are not getting cold feet and are not serious enough to identify, intercept or stop their homegrown “Jihadi Johns” from joining ISIL to offer their “beheading” services. These states are responsible for the present chaos and they are the ones that are not quite taken on board that their campaign for regime change by backing the terrorists is bankrupt.

They are loath to admit they went along with this fantasy for too long, contributing much to the rise of ISIL. They are also loath to admit that ISIL and the flood of foreign terrorists are the children of their own war of deceit. Perhaps they are weighing stronger actions. Who knows?

Whatever it is, according to Ayatollah Khamenei, “The people of Iraq and Syria have what it takes to break the back of ISIL without any help from foreign powers.” To this end, they must keep the momentum, reduce themselves to unity, and act in unity. Their hearts ought not to be set against one another, but set with one another and all against evil, for one one destiny.
