Iran sues US for breaching treaty of amity: Spox

 

Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi said on Monday that Iran has sued the US for violating international commitment, particularly treaty of amity.

Commenting on Iran’s complaint against the US, he added that to counter the US illegal move in re-imposing sanctions against Iran and retrieve the Iranian nation’s rights, Iranian Foreign Ministry put on agenda filing a complaint against the US with the International Court of Justice for violating international commitments, especially treaty of amity and economic relations and consular laws of 1955.

After seeking views of lawyers and international counselors, Iran finally filed a complaint against the US for violation treaty of amity, Qasemi said.

The complaint substantially explained that US May 8 decision to withdraw from the JCPOA runs counter to its international commitments, especially articles 4, 7, 8, 9 and 10 of the treaty of amity and it is obliged to stop the offenses and compensate damages.

Iran has filed a complaint against US’ re-imposition of unilateral sanctions’ with the International Court of Justice, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Monday.
