Iran, Iraq officials agree to establish flight between Mashad, Basra

Following a visit to Iran’s northeastern province of Khorasan Razavi by an Iraqi delegation, an agreement was finalized on Saturday on establishment of a direct flight between Iranian holy city of Mashad and Iraq’s Basra.

Under the terms of the agreement, the flight will be launched within the next two weeks to help exchange tourists between the two countries, Abolfazl Mokarramifar, the director of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts, and Tourism Office of Khorasan Razavi Province said in a meeting with the governor of Iraq’s Wasit Province.

He said that tourism between Iran’s Khorasan Razavi Province and Iraq’s Wasit Province in the area of pilgrimage and health tourism can be further promoted.

The two sides also agreed that the citizens of Wasit Province make use health tourism capacities of Khorasan Razavi Province and that Iraq’s Wasit Province can participate in Mashad’s International Exhibition on Tourism and related industries.
