Iran FM confers with former UN envoy on Syria

13356248f48ce073725e62b378733b7a_L (1)Iran’s Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, upon arriving in Algeria on Tuesday night, local time, met and conferred with former UN envoy on Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi. The Iranian foreign minister has traveled to Algeria to attend the 17th round of foreign ministerial meetings of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) member states.
According to IRIB World Service citing IRNA, the Algerian Foreign Minister, Ramtan Lamamra, had organized a banquet on the occasion of the presence of NAM member states’ foreign ministers, throughout which Iranian foreign minister met and conferred with Brahimi.
During this meeting, the two parties discussed the topics of importance in the World of Islam, the issue of Syria, Palestine, in addition to the stands adopted by NAM member states in this round of meetings.
The peaceful resolution of political disputes in the World of Islam was another pivotal topics discussed by the two parties in this bilateral meeting.
Following this meeting, Iran’s foreign minister, in the company of the Bolivian President, Evo Morales, Algerian Premier, Abdelmalek Sellal, and a number of NAM member states’ foreign ministers attended the banquet.
The Bolivian president, who currently chairs Group77, is one of the invitees to the 17th round of the foreign ministerial meetings of NAM member states.
