Iran, Bolivia Discuss Developing Defense Ties

 

Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri and Bolivian Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces Admiral Yamil Octavio Borda Sosa in a meeting in Tehran on Saturday discussed broadening of mutual cooperation.

During the meeting in the Iranian capital today, General Baqeri and Admiral Sosa explored the avenues for bolstering and reinvigorating bilateral relations in the military and defense fields.

“The Iranian people appreciate Bolivia, its history and Simon Bolivar who led the revolution in the Latin American nation and they have a positive attitude towards Bolivia,” the top Iranian commander said.

The Bolivian admiral, for his part, also praised friendliness of the Iranian people towards his country.

“Iranian people have been friendly to Bolivia and when in Iran I think I belong here,” Admiral Sousa said.

The Bolivian commander arrived in Iran on May 11.

Admiral Sosa is scheduled to meet other Iranian military officials as well as Minister of Defense Brigadier General Amir Hatami during his stay in Tehran.
