Hezbollah, Syria Army Capture New Positions in Zabadani

Syrian troops and fighters of the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah have made fresh gains in their battle against militants in the southwestern city of Zabadani, Al-Alam News Network reports.
Syria’s official SANA news agency said Wednesday that the allied forces have tightened their control of building blocks in Hay al-Za’atoot neighborhood, purging militants from the residential district.
The report said that some “accurate attacks” were carried out on the hideouts of the militants which led to the destruction of their weapons and ammunitions.

SANA added that a notorious commander of the militants, identified as Abu Ali Kharitah, was killed in another attack on a gathering of terrorist in Barada district.
On Tuesday, the allied forces seized control of at least eight major buildings in Zabadani’s western neighborhood of Hay Hamis, killing “tens” of terrorists operating there.
Syrian forces and Hezbollah fighters had already made some inroads in western parts of Zabadani, clearing the militants from key areas in the al-Jameat district.
Elsewhere, in south Syria, the army launched an offensive on hilltops captured by the militants in the Dara’a Province, killing scores of them in the attack. A number of terrorists were also killed in an overnight operation in the provincial capital by the same name, military sources said.
Further to the north, Syrian forces tightened the noose on militants of the al-Qaeda-linked Nusra Front in Dweir al-Zaitoun and Tallet al-Mallah in the northern countryside of Aleppo Province, killing scores of terrorists and destroying their vehicles.
Another attack on militants operating in Khan Touman region in the western countryside of Aleppo saw some of them killed.
Syria has been fighting against massive foreign-sponsored militancy for the past four years. The conflict has reportedly killed an estimated 230,000 people so far, including nearly 11,500 children.
