Battlefield sources disclosed that a Syrian army’s senior commander has escaped unharmed an Israeli assassination plot in the Golan Heights.
Majid Heymoud, commander of First Battalion of Golan Regiment who was visiting Eastern al-Samdaniya town narrowly survived the assassination plot.

Heymoud’s convoy came under two missile attacks which were fired from al-Harar and Haraq heights in the occupied Golan Heights under Israel’s control, but he escaped unharmed.

The Al-Nusra Front terrorists also tried to kill Heymoud after failed missile attack, but they did not succeed to do so.

In a relevant development on Monday night, Israeli fighter planes carried out bombing raids on positions in Syria’s Golan Heights.

The Israeli military claimed that the attacks were carried out after a mortar round was fired into the Israeli-occupied side of the Golan Heights from Syria.

The Syrian army said drones were used in the attack that targeted a civilian home in Golan.

According to the Israeli claims, no injuries were reported from the mortar fire which landed in an uninhabited area.

Israel seized the Golan Heights from Syria after the 1967 six-day war and later occupied it in a move that has never been recognized by the international community.

The regime has built tens of illegal settlements in the area ever since and has used the region to carry out a number of military operations against the Syrian government.
