Iraqi Armed Forces launched their important assault to liberate the city-center of Al-Qa’im in the Al-Anbar Governorate.

Led by the 46th Brigade of Hashd Al-Sha’abi (Popular Mobilization Units), the Iraqi Armed Forces stormed the Islamic State’s (ISIS) last defenses north of the recently liberated Hasbaya Housing Area.

Once the city-center is liberated, the Islamic State will be left with no choice but to withdraw across the border to Albukamal.

Al-Qa’im and Albukamal are the Islamic State’s last strongholds in both Iraq and Syria – the Iraqi and Syrian government forces are currently attempting to take control of these cities.
